Langley Middle School closure: If you oppose, speak up | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

The school board is already implementing plans to close Langley Middle School, integrating those students into the high school classrooms. The board has stated that they “looked at” all the other options last summer and picked the one that “met our criteria.”

The school board does not understand that a significant part of the community is very interested in keeping LMS operating at its present campus. There is a wide audience out there who are extremely disappointed with the board for their failure to entertain viable financial options for continuing the operation of the Langley campus. It is vitally important that we are aggressive in our declarations, with letters and e-mails to board members and newspapers; attending board meetings when this subject is on the agenda whenever possible and speaking up. There are more than 1,300 souls who have joined the Facebook site, “Save Langley Middle School.”

Please, all you public-spirited folk who feel strongly about this impending closure, come forth and make your voice heard!

Mike and Sydney Hoffman
