Fall ball has finally found South Whidbey Little League
August 9, 2011 · Updated 9:26 AM
Come Aug. 17, South Whidbey Little League will have a fall baseball program for the first time.
The season begins Aug. 17 and ends in October.
The all-Whidbey Island league is open to players ages 9-11 and 12-14.
Some rules are different, though. No player will be at the same position for more than two innings and all players on the roster will bat in order, instead of the standard nine on the field. There are no tryouts because the instructional league is designed to develop skills.
Registration will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, and Thursday, Aug. 11. Another registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 13 at South Whidbey Community Park.
The program costs $60. Teams will be selected Monday, Aug. 15 and practices begin Aug. 17.
The league currently has coaches for the 9-11 division but needs a coach or coaches for the 12-14 division.
