LANGLEY – South Whidbey used a two-one-two zone to limit the height advantage of Archbishop Murphy in a 54-42 victory.

The Falcon boys basketball team overcame 32 points from the Wildcats’ two best players – seniors Zach Gordon and Dan Haider – with balanced scoring. Six Falcons scored at least five points and were led by sophomore forward Nick French’s 12.

It was only the second conference victory for South Whidbey (2-9 Cascade Conference; 5-13 overall). South Whidbey students stormed the court to celebrate a rare victory over one of the conference’s perennial playoff teams.

The Falcons have three more games, and two are at home. They host Granite Falls on Friday, Feb. 3 and Lakewood on Monday, Feb. 6. South Whidbey travels north to face Coupeville on Saturday, Feb. 4.
