The Whidbey Crabs picked up their 14th win Wednesday by crushing the Kirkland Art Glass squad. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, the Crabs tied the game. In the second inning, the Crabs erupted for seven runs. Whidbey added three more runs in the fifth to close out the win with a five-inning mercy rule with the final score 13-2.

Houston Schmutz, Will Simms and Peter Jacobs knocked two hits each, while Ricky Muzzy cleared the bases in the second with a double to left field. Charlie Patterson started on the pitcher’s mound and got his fifth win of the season with Schmutz relieving him with shut out ball for the final two innings.

Whidbey hosts the West Seattle Dodgers on Saturday in a doubleheader at the South Whidbey Community Park ballfield.
