Future Falcons can learn to hoop

Aspiring Falcon ballers can get an early start on the hardwood at Erickson Gym. The Falcon coaching staff and boys and girls on the high school basketball teams will host a clinic in July for South End youths.

The Falcon Basketball Camp runs from 10 a.m. to noon for students enrolling in grades three to five, and from 1 to 3 p.m. for grades six to eight, July 16-20. Boys and girls are invited to  develop dribbling, passing and shooting skills for $60, of which 80 percent goes to fund the Falcon basketball teams. Players are asked to bring shorts and athletic shoes for the clinic at the high school gym, and they get a camp shirt. Registration can be done at the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District website at
