Limited Falcon cross country teams race Sehome Invitational

Some of South Whidbey’s cross country runners left a mark at the Sehome Invitational last weekend.

Nora Felt, a senior, placed 23rd in the 2-mile senior girls division at Sehome High School in Bellingham. She set her career best time in the 2-mile with a time of 13:40.82, an improvement of 23 seconds. Felt led the Falcon girls team that raced without some of its top runners, including fellow seniors Lillianna Stelling, Bonnie Klamm and Anna Hood.

The boys were led by sophomore Cole Zink, who placed third in the sophomore division in 10:51.70. He improved his time from last year’s two-mile races by 42 seconds.

The Falcons host the South Whidbey Invitational and the Carl Westling 5K Memorial today. The 5,000-meter race is open to all racers, and the invitational draws some of the state’s top teams, including 3A and 4A schools.
