ANACORTES — The South Whidbey baseball team battled the Cascade Conference's top seeded Lakewood Cougars into extra innings Monday before losing 6-5 in the first double elimination district playoff tournament.

South Whidbey plays Burlington-Edison at 5 p.m. today in a loser-out contest at Volunteer Park in Anacortes. The winner will move forward, most likely playing Archbishop Murphy to qualify for a state playoff berth.

Jon Adams was the losing pitcher for the Falcons. Lucas Yale, Robert Kirby and Nick Tenuta each had two hits for South Whidbey.
