Falcon fastpitch drops close contest to Turks

South Whidbey has to wait a little while longer for its first fastpitch win.

After a 2-1 loss to Sultan on April 1, the home game against Lakewood on April 4 was rained out.

On the road against the Sultan Turks, the Falcons snagged a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Sultan tied the game in the second and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning in a pitching duel.

It was Falcon senior Alex Kubeska’s first game pitching for South Whidbey (0-6 Cascade Conference; 0-6 overall) this season. She returned to strike out nine batters after missing the first couple of weeks with an injury.

The Falcons play during the school’s spring break and face island rival Coupeville on Monday, April 8.
