Pony League Whidbey Crabs shut out Mountlake Terrace Badgers

The Whidbey Crabs returned from spring break and showed little rust with a 7-0 victory against the Mountlake Terrace Badgers on April 20.

The game was a pitching duel until the Crabs broke open a 2-0 game in the seventh inning.

Will Simms pitched four shutout innings before giving way in the fifth inning. Lewis Pope stymied the Badgers with offspeed pitches. Trent Piehler blanked the mainlanders in the seventh inning preserving the shutout.

Crab hitters picked up two runs in the first inning after a Simms triple. After the early scores, Whidbey’s bats went silent.

Leading the way for the Crabs was Josiah Seargent with two timely hits and three RBI. Mitchell Grady and Connor Antich also added two hits to support 10 hits by the Crabs.

Their season record stands at 4-0 in the Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association’s Pony League.
