Whidbey Pony Leaguers claim fifth straight win

The Whidbey Crabs won their fifth straight game in convincing fashion over the Mountlake Terrace Badgers.

On April 24, Whidbey shut out Mountlake Terrace, 9-0, with flawless defense, outstanding pitching, and timely hitting.

The local nine jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning. Josiah Seargent blasted a home run to cap the scoring surge. Will Simms, Connor Antich, Austin Sterba, Dylan Woodward, and Cody Wilkie provided timely hits to support the nine-run attack.

Trent Piehler picked up the win on the mound. Antich pitched in relief, and Mitchell Grady closed out the seventh inning to complete their second consecutive shutout against the Badgers.

The Crabs host the Kirkland LuxHomes in a doubleheader at the South Whidbey Community Park beginning at noon Sunday.
