Former Falcon sprinter qualifies for NCAA meet

Jon Poolman, a former South Whidbey High School track star, blitzed by his competition at a recent race.

Western Washington University’s sophomore sprinter won the 400-meter sprint in 47.82 seconds at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His time qualified for the NCAA Division II meet.

Poolman also ran the lead leg in winning the 1,600-meter relay in 3:15.17. He moved up on the all-time Western Washington University 400-meter ranking from fifth to second, behind only Marc Hill’s record of 47.25 seconds in 1994.
