Whidbey Crabs split Pony weekend tournament

Facing fellow Pony League teams from Snohomish and King counties, Whidbey’s own squad came out with a 2-2 tournament record.

The Whidbey Crabs won their first game against the Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association Jayhawks and its final game against Kirkland Lux. Whidbey lost to the Bothell All-Stars and Maltby.

The Crabs rallied to win the finale in the seventh inning, 9-7. Trailing 7-2 in the sixth inning, Whidbey rattled off seven runs, including a three-run homer by Will Simms for the go-ahead scores.
