After their team had its best year ever, members of the South Whidbey High School girls soccer team recently picked up a number of post-season honors.

After winning the North Cascades Conference and taking a perfect 21-0 record into the 2A state championship game, the Falcons garnered four first-team all conference selections in a recent coaches poll. Selected were freshman midfielder Kelsey Kimmel, sophomore midfielder Katie Watson, sophomore forward Jenna Wild and senior defender Willa Purser. Selected for the NCC second team were sophomore defender Rita Jones, junior goalkeeper Allyson Riggs, and senior midfielder Natalie Schmidt.

Receiving honorable mentions were senior defenders Taryn Langlois and Lena Ishii, and midfielder Anna Gilles.

Also winning recognition was the Falcons’ scoring leader, Claudia Gil-Osorio, who was named NCC offensive player of the year; and the team’s coach, Paul Arand. In his sixth year with the Falcons, Arand was named NCC coach of the year.
