Boys inch closer to playoff berth
The Falcon boys basketball team has to win one more game to lock up a berth in the post-season playoffs.
In North Cascades Conference play, Thursday night at home, the Falcons easily defeated Granite Falls, 72-47. South Whidbey was down 12-16 in the first quarter, but picked up speed in the second and third quarters, with a solid lead 55-29 going into the fourth quarter.
The Falcons will travel to meet Granite Falls again on Saturday. A victory would lock up their playoff spot. They have four more games after Saturday.
Coach Andy Davis was pleased with Thursday nights performance. It was a good team effort, a good solid win for us. We played well, and did a good job limiting Granite Falls to one shot.
South Whidbeys leading scorers, Travis Tornga (24) and Kyle McGillen (21) who combined for 18 rebounds and five three pointers.
Davis said they are expecting a tough game against Granite Falls at home.
They play pretty well in their own gym, Davis said.
