Whidbey Crabs host tryouts for 2014 Pony League season

The Whidbey Crabs baseball club will hold an open tryout for the 2014 season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, on Field No. 3 at South Whidbey Community Park.

Youths who will be 13 or 14 years old by April 31, 2014 are eligible to participate.

An orientation for parents will take place prior to the tryout.

This past season, the Pony League team from Whidbey amassed 18 wins against six losses.

The team plays in the Mountlake Terrace Youth Athletic Association and competes in home-and-away games each week. The Crabs have worked at Dave Mackie Park in Maxwelton to ready the ballfield there as the team’s home field. Away games take the team to Mountlake Terrace, Bothell and Seattle.
