Falcon football begins Aug. 20
High school football returns to South Whidbey officially Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Though the Falcon program is unofficially participating in several activities before then, including a visit to the University of Washington Husky football practice Monday and getting equipment Tuesday, according to an email from Falcon head coach Chris Tormey.
The first day of Falcon football season will start with back-to-back two-a-day practices. Athletic packets — the forms and waivers to required to play — are due Monday, Aug. 18 to the high school’s athletic office. They can be downloaded from the South Whidbey High School website at www.sw.wednet.edu/Page/542.
After the first few days of practice, the team is going to Camp Casey in Coupeville for a two-day camp. The focus will be leadership, setting goals, crafting personal mission statements and fortifying team spirit — Ohana, in the parlance of the Falcons.
Tormey is still looking for an experienced coach to work with him as an assistant.
Anyone interested in playing or coaching Falcon football is encouraged to contact Tormey via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the new Falcon football website, https://sites.google.com/site/southwhidbeyfootball/home.
