Blake Blakey has signed to continue his education and compete for the Concordia University men’s golf team in Oregon, said Cavalier head coach Ronn Grove.

Before graduating in 2008, Blakey was a four-year letterman and two-time team captain for South Whidbey High School. A team MVP since his freshman season, Blakey helped guide the Falcons to league crowns in 2007 and again in 2008. He also earned first-team all-conference status over four years of high school.

“We are highly impressed with Blake,” Grove said.

“I can envision him being a leader on our team in his first year,” Grove said. “He is very strong fundamentally and has a great attitude by keeping a very even profile on the course. He doesn’t get too far up with highlights or too far down with mistakes. Blake has the ability to analyze the situation quickly and move on.”

Blakey also was a three-year letterman for the South Whidbey basketball team. He is the son of Vickie and Keith Blakey and plans to major in business at Concordia.
