The Burlington-Edison boys tennis team beat South Whidbey Wednesday by 4-3.

For the Falcons, Riley Newman won 6-1, 6-0; Van Morgen won 6-0, 6-1

Jon Adams won 6-2, 6-2 and Jake Ewing lost 4-6, 5-7.

In doubles action, South Whidbey’s Grant Neubauer and Zach Comfort lost 1-6, 2-6; Ben Snow and Trevor Hein lost 1-6, 1-6 and Jonah Jolley and Harrison Price lost 2-6, 6-3 and 3-6.

“Burlington is a solid team,” said Falcon coach Tom Kramer. “We lost several matches because we’re not used to the pressure and choked on some of the big points. We have to learn to handle the pressure and adjust to changing tactics on the court.”

Kramer said the team needs to adjust soon because the toughest part of the schedule is rapidly approaching.

“We need to increase our concentration and intensity during the course of every match,” Kramer added.
