Shannon Craig and Ana Weeks won 6-0, 6-1 and Jenn Gemkow and Katie Holt won 6-2, 6-0.

“Blaine is a much improved team, and they were stronger than we anticipated,” said Falcon coach Tom Kramer. “Natalie started very slow, made some good adjustments for the second set and then the Blaine girl became ill in the middle of the match and couldn’t continue. Maya prevailed in a long match punctuated by long rallies. She has a knack for getting into these kinds of games.”

Kramer noted that Berg won with a solid and improved style of play.

“Ana Weeks did a good job of filling in for Julia Iversen, who was sick,” the coach said.

“Jenn and Katie were in complete control in their match, playing a more aggressive style which seems to suit them. Victoria and Nicole had to overcome a stubborn and balanced team, and they did so nicely,” he added.
