The South Whidbey boys golf team placed second behind King’s Tuesday at the Cascade Conference championships.

At the par-72, 18-hole Snohomish Golf Club, King’s shot 401, South Whidbey 426 and Archbishop Murphy was third with 438.

“Even though we didn’t win, the boys demonstrated a lot of courage and dedication,” said Falcon coach Steve Jones. “The event was highly competitive and they gave all they had. I’m proud of their efforts this week and all year.”

Shane Thompson was first for the Falcons with 81, Brooks Guetlin 83, Lincoln Hawthorne 85, Perry Cooley 88 and Harrison Price 89.

Thompson, Guetlin and Hawthorne shot well enough to be named to the second team All League list.

Starting May 18 at Snohomish, 78 golfers will tee off for the two-day District 1 championship. Half will make the cut to play on the second day and of those, 20 will qualify for a position at state finals on May 26 at Apple Tree Golf Club in Yakima.
