Though Falcon Makenzie Peterson picked up her first goal of the year, the girls soccer team still lost to the Lakewood Cougars 3-1 on Tuesday.

Lakewood posted its three goals within the first 15 minutes before being shut down by the South Whidbey defense.

Peterson had a little help on the play.

"Paige (Miller) headed the ball from a backward stance and I got it in from 18 yards out, from the right," Peterson said.

The girls are 1-2 as they prepare to meet Cedarcrest, 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 at home. The Red Wolves were the league champion last year, but lost a large number of seniors.

"Should be a great game for soccer fans," said Falcon coach Paul Arand.
