South Whidbey falls short at Cedarcrest
January 13, 2010 · 10:00 AM
The Falcon boys basketball team lost to the Red Wolves at Cedarcrest on Friday, 63-51.
Red Wolf Zach Taylor had six of Cedarcrest’s 13 steals as the Red Wolves’ defensive pressure was too much for South Whidbey in the Cascade Conference game.
Ahead by one point at the first break, the Falcons were outgunned 34-24 in the second half.
“We didn’t handle their pressure very well in the second half,” Falcon coach Chris Ferrier said. “We allowed their shooters to get open looks that they didn’t get in the first half. Offensively, we were stagnant; standing around too much, waiting for whoever had the ball to create something instead of trying things to create something positive as a team.”
The coach noted that the team has 12 more league games in the season, starting with an away game at King’s on Friday, Jan. 15.
Riley Newman led Falcon shooters with 20 points, followed by Cole Erikson with 12 and Jordan Thornley, who added nine.
