South Whidbey High School volleyball coach Mandy Jones is planning the first-ever mini volleyball session for girls age 7 to 11. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to

12:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 29 to 31 in the high school’s main gym.

Jones said the emphasis will be on a fun learning process.

“It all starts with our young athletes,” she said. “Volleyball is the one sport that is not introduced to young people in our school district. This camp will give them the opportunity to try the sport and see if they like it, and will also give them a head start on volleyball skills before entering middle school or participating in off-season volleyball.

The camp will be led by the Falcon coaching staff, Jones and assistant coach Meggan Lubach.

Also, summer practices are going on now for high school students from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For details, call Jones at 221-8459 or e-mail mandy@whidbey.com.
