Falcon senior boy wins district triple jump title, several girls make finals

South Whidbey senior Kale Reichersamer took first place at the first day of the 1A District track and field championships May 14.

The two-day event was scheduled to conclude Friday, after The Record went to press, at Lynden Christian High School.

Reichersamer was the only Falcon to claim the top spot on Day 1, though several other South Whidbey athletes finished in the top five.

Cole Zink took second place in the 800 in 2:05.46.

Tanner Lobdell, a sophmore, finished in third place in the 100-meter race prelims. His time of 11.46 was the second fastest of his Falcon career and qualified him for the finals Friday.

In the hurdles, senior Jordan Parrick secured fourth place in the 300-meter prelims with a time of 45.51 seconds. He also qualified for the 110-meter finals with a personal best time of 16.74 seconds, good for fifth place.

For the Falcon girls, senior distance runners Jaime Rodden and Terra Wildon placed second and third, respectively, in the 800 prelims. Rodden finished in 2:29.39 and Wildon in 2:31.72. Rodden followed up the mid-distance race with a second-place finish in the 1,600 in 5:26.01, her second-best time.

Maia Sparkman, a senior sprinter, set her career-best time in the 200 in 26.91 for third place and a spot in the district finals. She also took third in the long jump with a career-best mark of 16 feet, 5.75 inches.

In the hurdles prelims, sophomore Allie Vanbenschoten placed fourth in the 300-meter event in 49.99 seconds, her career best. Freshman Bailey Forsyth was fifth place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.83 seconds.
