Falcons continue string of shutouts / Baseball

It was another game and another shutout for the South Whidbey High School baseball team as the Falcons throttled visiting Granite Falls 18-0 in five innings Wednesday, March 20.

Unbeaten South Whidbey has yet to surrender a run in the first four games this season.

The Falcons led 5-0 going into the fourth inning Wednesday and then batted around twice while scoring 13 runs.

South Whidbey mixed five hits with seven walks and two hit batters to create the big inning.

For the game, Alex Black collected two hits and scored three runs and Ben Lind singled twice for the Falcons. Dexter Jokinen and Ashton Leland each ripped doubles, and Drew Fry and Brent Batchelor had singles.

Jon Bartel and Black combined to pitch a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

South Whidbey (2-0, 4-0) and Granite Falls (0-2, 1-4) finish their three-game series at 4 p.m. Friday, March 22, in Granite Falls.
