Fall prep preview / Swim

Coach: Chris Erickson, Kamiak.

2018: 10th (first among 1A schools) at 2A district meet.

Note: South Whidbey High School does not offer swimming, so its students practice and compete with Kamiak.

Returning letter winners: juniors Ashley Lynch (13th in the state 200 freestyle in 2018), Katie Zundel, Sarah Zundel.

Newcomers: freshmen Parker Forsyth, Abigail Ireland, Devin King.

Coach’s comment: “It is early, but they are looking good. The first-year swimmers are getting things figured out.”

Note: Lynch said she will be trying several other freestyle events as she works to qualify for state again this season. She would like to see the Falcons qualify a relay team for state, saying, “We are going to have to work hard for that.

“I’m really excited for the season; it should be good.”

First competition: at Kamiak Jamboree, 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

First meet: Lakes Stevens at Kamiak, 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17.
