Newman receives all-state honors / Basketball

South Whidbey High School senior Kody Newman was named to the Associated Press 1A all-state basketball team this week.

The teams are selected by sportswriters from across the state and compiled by AP.

Newman, who scored 1,039 points in his career, was a two-time, first-team all-league selection and was named the North Sound Conference’s Most Valuable Player this past season.

He averaged 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game in 2018-19.
