South Whidbey finishes 12th at Shootout / Girls golf

The South Whidbey High School girls golf team began the 2019 season by placing 12th in the 17-team Whidbey Shootout Tuesday, March 19, at the Whidbey Golf Club in Oak Harbor.

The Falcons shot a 468, which was the best score by a 1A team in the meet.

Mercer Island captured the team title with a 367. Kamiak’s Jane Kim was medalist with a five-over 77.

South Whidbey’s Tori Schuller recorded the top score for the Falcons, finishing tied for 24th out of 88 with a 104.

Olivia Varga shot 111, Alyssa Ludtke 117, Caitlin Sullivan 136, Bella Pierce 147 and Laci Pihlam 151.

South Whidbey starts conference action when Sultan visits the Useless Bay Golf and Country Club for a 3 p.m. match Thursday, March 21.
