South Whidbey opens season at Snohomish / Boys golf

The South Whidbey High School boys golf team began the 2018 season at the Where Do You Stand meet at the Snohomish Golf Course Tuesday, March 13.

The Falcons had only four golfers (two new to the sport) and did not qualify for a team score. Their top golfer, Ryan Wenzek, missed the meet while on a college visitation.

Snohomish won the seven-team, nine-hole, par-36 match with a 209.

Gabe Jacobson-Ross led the Falcons with a 45, followed by Brent DeWolf (49), Noah Ratcliff (57) and Soren Bratrude (57).

“Conditions were very challenging with non-stop rain, wind and cold temperatures,” coach Steve Jones said.

South Whidbey meets Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the Useless Bay Golf and Country Club.
