South Whidbey tabs Turcott to coach Falcons / Boys basketball

South Whidbey High School hired veteran coach Greg Turcott to replace boys basketball coach Mike Washington, who resigned after last season to take a position as assistant principal at Cascade High School.

Turcott, a Coupeville resident who teaches middle school in the Lynnwood area, takes over the Falcon program after stops at several area high schools, including Kamiak, Woodinville and Archbishop Murphy, as well as a stint at Shoreline Community College.

“Although we appreciate the great job coach Washington has done, we are excited about the experience and expertise coach Turcott brings to our program,” South Whidbey Athletic Director Paul Lagerstedt said.

The Falcons, under the guidance of Turcott, are in the midst of their offseason work. Wednesday, South Whidbey participated in a scrimmage with host Oak Harbor and Anacortes.
