The South Whidbey Little League 8-10 baseball team completed a sweep of the District 11 playoffs and earned a berth in the state tournament with a 7-6 win over Sedro-Woolley Monday, June 25, in Langley.
Trailing 6-5 heading into the top of the final inning, South Whidbey punched across two runs to take the lead and then sent Sedro-Woolley down in order in the bottom half to secure the win.
“It was a great game,” South Whidbey coach Josh Coleman said.
South Whidbey now heads to the state tournament, which begins Saturday, July 7, at Lynndale Park in Lynnwood.
