Langley mayor and council impresses | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
I’m writing to thank the Record for presenting the article “Council clarifies mayor’s role, pay” with journalistic professionalism. In contrast to prior coverage of the matter in the Record, this article has objectivity in both content and tone.
I am a Langley business person. The methodical assessment and reorganization of city hall by Mayor Samuelson is refreshing.
As painful as it is, every enterprise must periodically reinvent itself. In the process, long-held assumptions are questioned and tenured people are challenged to reach beyond the boundaries in which they currently operate. That Mayor Samuelson, staff and the city council have made significant progress in this area in a very short time is impressive but not surprising to me. These are dedicated servants of Langley whose integrity and professionalism is uncommon in our current, over-heated political environment.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I should state that I serve the Samuelson family in my professional capacity.
