Alvin Reed Brown was born Dec. 30, 1937 to Reed and Vernice Brown of Seattle, Wash.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Leanna Thomajan-Ons; son-in-law, Bart Ons; son, Stephen; daughter-in-law, Sahar Rezania, and; grandchildren, Sorenna, Gabriel and Christian.

Al graduated from Ballard High School in 1956. He served in the Naval Air Reserve in Japan. He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1962.

Al founded Northwest Manufacturing with Jim DePhelps in 1968, where he served as president. Al retired in 1997 and moved to Whidbey Island where he pursued his hobbies of boating, fishing, woodturning, and metal forging.

A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Whidbey Evangelical Free Church, 874 Plantation Drive, Greenbank, WA 98253. Phone number is 360-222-3211.
