Come July 5, between 4 and 7:30 p.m., the Clinton Thursday Market will take over the lawn behind the Dairy Queen, which will be filled with vendors selling last minute hostess gifts, beautiful keepsakes, cherished antiques, handmade jewelry, hair and nail supplies, gluten-free products, gourmet coffee and pastries, as well as fresh produce and eggs.

Market goers can have their bangs cut for free or enjoy a relaxing massage. The Tim Donovan Band and Deejay Bob will keep things lively and barbecue, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and Tres Gringos spicy fare will be served.

Coinciding with the market opening, visitors will have a chance to find other treasures by shopping the garage sales going on at Sound Self Storage (behind the market) and at Economy Storage (near the visitor kiosk on Langley Road). Good Cheer II (behind the Clinton Food Mart) will be open until 6 p.m.

An outgrowth of the Clinton Future Search meetings, the market provides an opportunity for Clinton residents and businesses to spotlight Clinton and take their place among the other economic development activities on the Island. Volunteers should contact Market Manager Carol Flax for an assignment.

The market runs nine consecutive weeks on Thursdays starting July 5 and ending Aug. 30. A booth space for all nine weeks is $80. Tiffany McGill is the shared booth manager and will inventory, display and sell products for absentee vendors. Cost will be $12 per week unless contracted for the full nine weeks.  McGill can be reached at homefreehomesteader@gmail.com.
