Eight local artists have created a new art studio and gallery called Freeland Art Studios, and the gallery with host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

The new gallery and studio is at 1660 Roberta Ave., behind the Whidbey Island Bank branch in Freeland.

The artists share a building which houses their separate studios. The artists include sculptors Penelope Crittenden, Sue Taves, Lane Tompkins and Lloyd Whannell; custom tile and clay artist Carol Rose Dean; children’s museum water feature creator Tom Lindsay; water features artist and stone sculptor Woody Morris; and bronze portraiture and painter Frank Rose.
