Helping a child to find a home is rewarding

Editor,

Today, I had the opportunity to call a couple of foster parents and give them the news that they are going to be able adopt the child they have been raising and loving for over a year.

It brought tears to my eyes. Helping a child find a permanent, loving home is the job of many people in the foster care system including the DSHS case workers, the state attorney’s office, the court personnel, the foster parents, and the county judges, as well as the Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, the volunteer position I hold.

Helping a foster child gives me a feeling of pride, and is something I will never forget. I hope that you will consider joining us in this task, either as a foster parent or as a CASA.
