This is in response to Fred Wilferth’s letter to the editor about the protest by Olympic runner Gwen Berry.

So, Mr. Wilferth, let me get this straight; Gwen Berry should be thankful to live in a nation where free expression and disapproval of the government is allowed, but how dare she express her dissent?

Having a defiant voice but being criticized for using it is hardly a freedom of expression.

Gwen is a role model and a patriot. I’m thankful the whole world will get to see Gwen as a representative of America.
