Letter: Bullies are nothing new, students need to adapt

Editor,

I read your recent issue. Some parents reported their children must deal with bullies in school.

Bullies are as old as the hills. They are not leaving. We learned how to handle hunger and cold. We learned how to build a skyscraper. We learned how to fly to the moon. We learned how to deal with bullies.

These children can learn skills to solve this problem. The right tools always make a job easier. Adults buy car insurance hoping for no accident. Bully skills are a form of insurance. You don’t want to use them. However, it is nice to have them if needed.

As a former child and a retired schoolteacher I have seen it all. To help these parents and students, I am willing to share my knowledge with whomever contacts me.
