Letter: Community Harvest won’t be hosting dinner this year

Editor,

It is with a heavy heart that I am informing the community of Oak Harbor that the North Whidbey Community Harvest will not be hosting our annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Elks Lodge this year.

With COVID-19 on the rise again and the ever-changing restrictions the governor has placed on events of this type, we, as a board, do not feel that we can safely host our Thanksgiving dinner.

I know this places a hardship on many who have enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving with us each year, and we are very sorry.

Please do not call the Elks Lodge regarding this as it is not an Elks event. They have been very gracious in providing the venue for the North Whidbey Community Harvest to hold this annual event for the past 19 years, and we hope to be able to host the Thanksgiving dinner again in 2021.

We, the board of directors of the North Whidbey Community Harvest, will miss seeing each of you, and we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
