Letter: DNC is failing to spotlight threat of climate change

Editor,

The Democratic National Committee has thus far failed to agree to hold a presidential debate with the sole focus being climate change.

The UN says we have 11 years to transform our society to stop climate change and preserve civilization as we know it for the next generation.

The year 2020 is our last chance to elect a president who has enough time to turn this around. We need a climate debate so we can hear which candidates are ready to protect our world and so candidates can showcase their plans to stop the collapse of civilization as we know it and create millions of good jobs.

As an older adult, I support a climate debate because in my opinion this is the central issue that surrounds all others. If nothing is done about our climate crisis, and soon, we stand to drastically alter or completely eliminate our world as we know it. And indeed, I want to rectify the mess my generation has left for the next one.

I encourage your readers to pressure their members of Congress to insist that the Democratic Party hold such a debate. Time is running out.
