Letter: Hospital relies on the public for financial support

Editor,

What is now WhidbeyHealth is a 57-year-old public hospital district. The district provides the following critical services to our community: hospital, ambulance, seven health care clinics and now a community pharmacy.

My wife, adult son and I have all had the need to avail ourselves of more than one of the services offered by Whidbey Health. We all are pleased that we could be cared for locally and very satisfactorily.

As a publicly owned district, it relies on the public, us, for financial support through our taxes, patronization and volunteering. My wife has the opportunity to assist at many of the COVID vaccination clinics. I have the privilege of supporting the Hospital Health Foundation.

I am of the opinion that Whidbey is much better off, overall, with the hospital district than not. I am voting for the recommended tax increase. Please join with me.
