Letter: If you see Gretchen, be sure to thank her

Editor,

Change can be difficult. Change and transitions happen in our lives.

We at Whidbey Children’s Theater have had to change and transition over this past year. We have gone from providing an in-person enrichment program for the youth of South Whidbey and live performances to offering virtual opportunities in theater through the WCT Academy.

A big shift in our mindset, but it has also given WCT the opportunity to create new ideas.

This shift was accomplished by leadership, from our board and staff.

Gretchen Mills, our board president at the time, was instrumental in this positive change.

Gretchen is involved on South Whidbey in so many ways; WCT, the South Whidbey High School Drama Club, the 4H Horse program, Girl Scouts, only to name a few.

The Children’s Theater wants to thank Gretchen for all her hard work as board president. She continues on as board treasurer, which will ease the transition.

I look forward to continuing in her footsteps as we navigate through these new times.

If you see Gretchen, be sure to thank her for all she has done for South Whidbey.

WCT will survive the tough times ahead and we appreciate the support of people like Gretchen Mills and the community of South Whidbey. Let’s keep the magic alive.

Katie Stewart,

board president
