Letter: Island County work crews are doing a good job on the roads

Editor,

Kudos to Island County Road Department for providing us with well-maintained roads throughout all four seasons.

The roads are on a resurfacing and maintenance schedule that prevents the hazards of costly and dangerous potholes for the driving public.

The roads are re-striped regularly which makes for safe driving at night and during inclement weather.

The regularly mowed and trimmed roadsides give our resident deer and other critters a better chance at avoiding a collision with a speeding vehicle, to say nothing of safety for drivers. In addition, the roadsides look much nicer.

It’s the road department that is called on to de-ice and clear the roads of snow and downed trees all times of the day and night. The road crews are the men and women who clear the roads when there is an auto accident.

Like others, I have been stopped or slowed during road work, but it’s a small price to pay for safe and easy island driving. I appreciate a job well done. Thanks to the Island County Road Department and the road crews.
