Letter: It’s not wrong to want limited development

Editor,

I am writing in response to Mr David Freed’s “NIMBYS spotted again in City of Langley” opinion (Oct. 5 letter to the editor).

I find his commentary quite ineffective and relatively ambiguous as to his point. I also find his use of the word “NIMBY” and the critical reference to Donald Trump in the same opinion interesting since Trump has used name calling as a tactic to gain influence and Mr. Freed is calling Mr. Stenberg a Trump U attendee and a “NIMBY.”

If I were Mr Stenberg , I would not be happy with a large development in my backyard. I can absolutely commiserate with Mr Stenberg. This is a wonderful island and its rural character is to be valued greatly in my opinion and not wasted for development. If you want to live in an urban setting, move. As far as I am concerned Mr Freed can refer to me as Captain Nimby… everyone else can call me by my name. Not every inch of the world needs to be an urban development.
