Letter: Lane Campbell is proven to be a leader, others are followers

Editor,

Please vote for Lane Campbell for Island County sheriff Nov. 6.

I support Deputy Campbell for the Island County sheriff. Lane’s campaign issues from the beginning have been focused on the drug/drug dealers, mental health, homeless problems and programs.

Lane has always believed in community partnership, reducing tax dollar waste and, very importantly, keeping our law enforcement safe; moving positions from upper level through attrition to rehire as patrol deputies. Using staff more efficiently and ensuring safety to those already patrolling.

Today, Lane stands by his platform including new ideas. However, other candidates have been changing their platform to include Lane’s issues and ideas. This proves to me and others that Lane is the leader and they are followers. Nothing speaks louder than actions. Changes in the sheriff’s budget and staffing positions have been possible to make for the last two and a half years when changes were made to the administration. The new administration did not make changes until February 2018. Two patrol deputies’ positions were open for almost the same amount of time and were only filled recently. Deputy Lane Campbell believes it is “time for a change” and he is willing, able and ready to make change happen.

He has extensive experience which includes administration, budgeting, supervising, instructor training, investigations, leadership, FEMA, and drug and alcohol training/investigation. Lane works daily with the public, giving him the experience, unique insight and perspective on the issues confronting Island County. He has pledged to be in the field working for us, not sitting behind a desk. His latest endorsement is from Jill Johnson, Island County commissioner. A vote for Lane Campbell is a vote for the citizens.
