Letter: Limbaugh may be speaking with God, but long-distance

Editor,

What Americans need to remember is that it is democracy, the Republic, that is on loan from God. Over 500,000 Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice in paying against that loan. Over 81 million people voted to defend and protect it.

One of the benefits of this loan is our freedom to have diverse opinions and to express most of them. Those benefits do not include advocating hatred, racism, antisemitism, white supremacy or neo-Nazism. Nor does advocating violence against each other or insurrection against the Constitution.

None of these behaviors fall within God’s blessings. I don’t believe the disrespect of women or vile language spoken against anyone by anyone would be condoned either.

In his daily prayers, I would expect Dr. Edward Drum to be familiar with Proverbs 6:16-19, which lists the sins that are an abomination to God— “a lying tongue, a heart that devises wicked schemes, a false witness who utters lies and one who spreads strife among brethren.”

Rush Limbaugh was an active practitioner of all these abominations. Maybe he is speaking with God these days but I expect it is a very, very, long-distance call.
