Letter: Never give your personal info over phone, by mail

Editor,

Voters, if you recently received a letter from the Island County Auditor’s Election Office regarding a signature issue, follow the instructions in the letter to “cure” your signature.

We also have a citizen alert — it has come to the attention of the Island County Auditor’s Office that there are individuals going to homes of some voters in the county who may have had their ballots questioned for signature issues.

Some individuals may represent a political party or individual campaign, if so, they will identify themselves and which group they are representing, others may not represent any group.

Some voters are being asked to sign a signature update form and have been asked to provide personal information such as date of birth and/or social security numbers.

This information is not required to have your vote count. These individuals are not representatives of the Island County Auditor’s Election’s Office.

We urge voters to never give out your personal information on the phone, through the mail or to anyone coming to your door.

If you have questions or concerns call the Election’s Office at 360-679-7366 or email us: elections@co.island.wa.us
