Letter: No Community Harvest planned this year

Editor,

On behalf of the North Whidbey Community Harvest, I would like to inform the community of Oak Harbor and Coupeville that the North Whidbey Community Harvest will not be hosting our annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Elks Lodge this year.

With all the COVID-19 restrictions we had difficulty finding a place to host the event. We as a board do not feel we can safely host our Thanksgiving dinner without the proper facility to accommodate so many people.

On behalf of our board of directors we want to express how truly sorry we are that we cannot do this event this year.

We understand this might place some hardship on many who have appreciated our Thanksgiving dinner celebration in the past years.

Please do not call the Elks Lodge regarding this event as it is not an Elks event. They have been very generous in offering their location for the North Whidbey Community Harvest to hold our annual event in the past. We hope to be able to hold the Thanksgiving dinner again in 2022.

We, the board of directors of the North Whidbey Community Harvest, will miss seeing each of you and your smiling faces. We miss our community and hope that next year we will be able to gather and be thankful together once again.

We would love to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
