I want to publicly thank Vin Sherman, sexton of Sunnyside Cemetery, and the Island County Cemetery District #2 staff for their loving, attentive, prompt and caring assistance as he arranges the burial of my cousin in her hometown cemetery. She lived in England and it was important to her to come home. Many members of our family are buried at Sunnyside and I know the historic cemetery continues in good hands. I am grateful for Vin’s diligent service.

The Sherman family have generously served and protected the cemetery for over a century. My aunt worked to restore and preserve the cemetery in the 1960s and served as the district secretary for a couple of decades. She worked with an earlier generation of the Sherman family and witnessed the continuing care they and others bestowed on the cemetery. Finally, I appreciate the county and the community’s legacy of stewardship for this special place close to my heart.
