In response to Steven Horton of Langley, who is against the electoral college. There are 3,141 counties in the United States President Trump won 3,084 of them, and Clinton won 57. There are 62 counties in New York state. President Trump won 46 of them. Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approximately 1.5 million votes. In the five counties that make up New York City, Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than President Trump. Therefore, these five counties accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote for the entire country.

It would be ludicrous to even suggest that such a small part of the country dictate the outcome of a national election. There is a reason we have an electoral college, so the whole country has a voice, not just a few large cities.

And for Mr. Horton to want to see the end of a major political party and have one party rule?

I can quickly think of a number of countries that have this, or failed states that did have one party rule, and it has worked out badly for all citizens living under that.
